Imagine there was a global award for what you do, whatever you are most passionate about: parenting, marketing, coaching, law, giving to others, teaching, etc.

Imagine being recognized as being THE BEST in the world at that endeavor- the single best.

In this conversation we learn from Carli Lloyd. She is just that person.

She lives with purpose, passion, clarity, and fight. She’s a pure competitor that has faced both adversity and triumph that accompanies pursuing potential on the world-stage. That journey is not for the faint of heart. It requires, by definition, the uncomfortableness that comes from being on the edge. She’s done just that, facing down the thing most of us are afraid to face: doubt.

Carli is an American soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, and 2015 FIFA Player of the Year.

She currently plays for the Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women’s national soccer team.

She scored the gold medal-winning goals in the finals of the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She has represented the United States at three FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.

During the United States’ 5–2 win over Japan in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final, Lloyd became the first person ever to score three goals in a FIFA Women’s World Cup final, and the second soccer player in history to score a hat trick in any senior FIFA World Cup Final, after Sir Geoff Hurst.

“The #1 thing that has gotten me this far has been my mental approach- without that I would not have been as dominant.”
